The Second International Meeting of UNESCO Chairs in Open, Digital and Distance Education, held in 2026 under the theme "Transforming Higher Education: People-centred Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence", seeks to deepen this international dialogue in response to UNESCO's renewed vision for the transformation of higher education.
This second edition is jointly organised by the UNESCO Chair of Distance Education (UNED) and the UNESCO Chair on Scalable Digital Education for All at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, both members of the UNESCO UNITWIN UNOE (Open Education) Network since 2026.
The event will be held in a hybrid and multilingual format on 18 and 19 November 2026, hosted by the National University of Distance Education (UNED) and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, respectively.
The Meeting aims to strengthen cooperation among UNESCO Chairs and to contribute collectively to UNESCO's current roadmap for transforming higher education through knowledge exchange, shared reflection and the dissemination of innovative practices.
The event is open and free to anyone interested in the topics to be addressed.
