Mongolia and UNESCO discuss expanding cooperation

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Education of Mongolia Enkh-Amgalan Luvsantseren met with UNESCO Deputy Director-General Åsa Regnér and exchanged views on expanding cooperation in education, education policy, planning, and digital education, Montsame reported.
The Mongolian Ministry of Education presented measures being implemented within the framework of its current policies and reforms aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of education, updating curricula, developing teaching staff, and supporting the digital transition. UNESCO's important support in improving Mongolia's education policy and planning was particularly noted.
It was noted that UNESCO commends Mongolia for having made significant progress in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on ensuring quality education.
The parties also exchanged views on expanding digital and blended learning opportunities, integrating face-to-face learning with digital educational solutions and open educational resources, and strengthening the digital skills of teachers and students.
Furthermore, they discussed the possibility of developing a "green education" program based on Mongolia's natural and cultural sites, which are included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This program aims to foster environmental awareness, sustainable development values, and respect for cultural heritage.
It was emphasized that by implementing this program based on curricula, local contexts, and heritage protection, there is an opportunity to leverage UNESCO support and international best practices to provide students with practical knowledge and skills in understanding, protecting, and sustainably using natural and cultural heritage.
